Jen, I enjoyed your talk with Lee about Serpieri and thanks for sharing the conversation. I remember seeing Serpieri’s work years ago, but have a much deeper appreciation for his work now after listening to the two of you discuss the more technical aspects of his art. Always learn more when artists talk about art. The reproductions I saw in U.S. magazines didn’t do him justice. HIs cross-hatching is incredible, and a skill, along with actual figure drawing, you sadly don’t see much these days. The talk on censorship is, unfortunately, timely as I see more and more of it here in the U.S. – you can show as much gore and violence as you want, but naked bits will apparently bring down the American empire. On the topic of sketchbooks, I would gladly pay for a digital copy of your sketchbooks if you ever organize them for sale. Would love to see what you doodle in your free time for yourself. I hope you have time in the future to do more of these type broadcasts, and would had my vote for a talk on Howard Chaykin’s art. Thanks for all you work.

Thank you for taking the time to watch/listen to it! I know it was very long – but I think that’s because it was our first try and we chose two topics (Serpieri AND UK Censorship). For the next one we’ll stick to one topic so we don’t talk for a whole day!

I’m glad hearing us gush about Serpieri’s skill gave you a new appreciation for his work! He’s a master of the craft in my opinion – and not only because he’s super into crosshatched asses 😀

I think the next one we’ll do will either be between Howard Chaykin’s art in general (Where Lee knows a lot and I know very little), Little-Ego (where I am basically just going to spend hours forcing people to look at the pages and appreciate them) OR a more casual show and tell of my current European Erotica collection that I bought at Serieboden in Sweden 🙂

Thank you for the interest in a potential sketchbook of my own! I have started sharing more general art on the studio that I do for fun and so far people seem to be cool with it, so I’ll continue doing it (and adding Content Warnings when they get a bit spicy)

    Fabulously informative, fun and entertaining.

The art is truly stunning. I appreciate that it’s pure fantasy and I don’t want to knock someone else’s kink, but the continual sexual assault is something that doesn’t sit well and would put me off too much to enjoy the artwork to the level that that incredible skill deserves. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the podcast immensely.

I was trying to paint a Blue Jay whilst watching / listening. It’s tough to do when out of the corner of your eye you can see a dick and balls being zoomed in and out. 🙂 Fabulous fun.

Thank you! We had a great time chatting and filming the thing!

Yes that’s totally fair. I think what most people remember about Serpieri’s work is the unrelenting… misery of it all, so it’s very easy be get put off. It’s definitely not for everyone and it’s the main reason why I personally don’t get on with the actual Druuna comics (except Anima!). But I think you can really see his true horniness in the sketchbooks and those short stories in there too. That’s the good stuff for me personally where all his technical skill marry the less… violent/Feel-Bad kinks of his (In my opinion. I’m speculating wildly as usual).

I’m sorry about the dick and balls distraction 😀
